Due to increased demand for dinner reservations on Wednesday nights, we’ve decided to move our brilliant quiz to Sunday instead. Sundays are all about restorative Bloody Marys, lazy afternoon drinks and our spectacular roast dinners, so it’s already our favourite day of the week. But now there’s yet another reason to savour the last of the weekend by lingering a little longer for a general knowledge busting evening of fun! Bookings available on 020 3092 0598 [email protected] or simply turn up and join in.
Keep the kiddies occupied this Easter Monday with an egg hunt here at The Gipsy Queen. Between 12pm and 1pm we invite under-12s to go in search of the chocolate eggs we’ve hidden to see how many they can find. Any treats they find will be theirs to keep and a prize will be given to the intrepid explorer who hunts down the most.
With food served all day, the whole family can indulge in a delicious lunch after all the excitement. Children’s options will be available alongside our usual menu, as well as sweet treats for those who didn’t get lucky in the hunt.
Tune in to Soho Radio between 9 and 10am this Tuesday 22nd March to hear creative force behind The Gipsy Queen’s food, head chef Tom Humphries, chatting to William Sitwell – award-winning editor of Waitrose Kitchen, food writer and Masterchef critic.
His weekly ‘Biting Talk’ show explores the important issues in the world of food and drink, broadcasting from the most vibrant square-mile in the world, Soho, London.
Biting Talk features the nation’s biggest names in food and drink, debates the hottest topics in food and is, William reckons, the liveliest food show on radio.

Arguably the epicentre of London’s craft brewing movement, Hackney has become home to some of the capital’s best-loved breweries. Hackney Brewery have been blazing a trail over there since 2011, and have not only established themselves as one of London’s most innovative brewers, but also our personal favourites. Which is why we are truly honoured and excited to be hosting the launch of Hackney’s 1000th brew at The Gipsy Queen on 29th January. We hope you’ll join us for this seminal event, when you’ll be able to meet the brewers themselves, sample their 1000th Brew as well as some of their other beloved brews and kick up your heels to some live sounds.
Things got very egg-citing one chilly Tuesday night earlier this month at The Canonbury pub, as 21 top UK chefs battled it out in the fifth annual Scotch Egg Challenge. The place was packed to the rafters with eager egg fans, including a number of London’s most influential chefs and restaurateurs, in addition to an esteemed panel of judges comprising Evening Standard’s food critic and Queen of the London restaurant scene Fay Maschler, journalist and food writer Zoe Williams, Guardian food editor Bob Granleese, restaurateur Henry Harris and ‘restaurant guru’ Hugh Wright.
Our very own Tom Humphries was amongst the contenders, producing the little beauty pictured below, which you can try for yourself on our bar menu available all day every day. Best of all, his Pork Shoulder and Fennel creation scooped second place! We couldn’t be more pleased or proud. Well done Tom!
